Here's how.

STEP 1

Check your eligibility

You must be enrolled to vote in the council area where you're standing, or own or occupy property in that area.

STEP 2

Choose your ward

Most councils are divided into wards. Decide which ward best reflects where you live and the community you want to represent.

STEP 3

Download your nomination form

Available from your local council or the Local Government Association of South Australia.

STEP 4

Prepare your candidate statement

Keep it clear, specific, and focused on what you'll do — not who you are.

STEP 5

Complete and submit

Return your completed form before close of nominations — 12:00 pm Tuesday 9 February 2027.
